Retek Concrete Waterproofing

Waterproofing cement, plaster and concrete

Ad waterproofing powder to cement that causes a chemical reaction, causing it to swell. It expand and seals every pore of the cement, plaster or concrete. Each pore becomes totally waterproof and remains so even under extreme hydrostatic pressure.

Waterproofing powder itself cannot absorb moisture, so it will never separate from the cement or plaster after closing the pores. Neither scrubbing nor high pressure will lessen its effects.

Economical

It cost so little and does so much to keep water out.
Add 2.7kg to 50kg cement.
Just 5% added to mix will waterproof concrete.

Uses

  • Concrete roofs
  • Reinforced concrete (curbs rusting of the steel)
  • Plaster (Especially on weather side walls)
  • Cement dams and tanks.
  • Fish ponds
  • Balcones
  • Many other uses

Retek Roof Waterproofing

Roof Waterproofing Paint

Retek roof waterproofing is a waterproofing system that can be used on concrete roofs. When applied correctly it will provide a long lasting waterproof surface that is trafficable to light traffic such as foot traffic.

Preparation of concrete roof and application of the waterproofing system

  • The final screed applied to the roof should be a trowelled finish with a minimum of high spots. Any high spots can be removed by sanding with a brick or other hard object.
  • All dust and other contaminants should then be removed before commencing the application of the waterproofing system.
  • Wet the surface of the roof with a fine water spray and apply two sealing coats consisting of 2 parts Portland cement mixewed with 1 part of Retek water based bonding emulsion while the surface is still damp (Very important).
The second sealing coat should be applied as soon as the first is touch dry. This will be approximately 30 minutes. This should be left to dry for at least 48 hours before application of the final waterproofing system.
  • Pre-cut sheets of non-woven membrane to fit the surface to be waterproofed
  • Apply one liberal coat of Retek Waterproofing compound to a dampened roof surface. Lay the non-woven membrane down on the wet Waterproofing compound and by means of a compacting roller work the compound through the
membrane so that no dry patches are visible. This should now be repeated on other sections of the roof so that the membrane stripe overlaps each other by at least 50mm.
  • After 24 hours a second coat of waterproofing compound should be applied.
  • The latter should be thinned down 10% with water.
  • After drying the second coat for 24 hours, a final undiluted coat of waterproofing compound must be applied to finish the waterproofing system.
  • The roof can now be left to dry for 72 hours when it will be able to withstand light foot traffic.
